Greetings Loomis Wolves Community! Many of you know me by association through my wife, Ms. Sherri; my In-Laws, Rook and Wanda Thorell; or through various activities (usually with Rook) as Elvis. Loomis was my first job in education as a Paraprofessional in 1993-94. I I was the Assistant Boys Varsity Basketball Coach and Assistant Track Coach. I have been part of the Loomis community for more than thirty-four years and has always held a special place in my heart for all of those years.
I am originally from Iowa, where I was born in 1969. My parents divorced after my fourth grade year. My mother remarried during my sixth grade year and after first semester of my seventh grade year, my mother, brother, and step-father and i moved to Gothenburg, NE where I graduated in 1987. I attended Kearney State College/University of Nebraska at Kearney where I graduated with an Elementary Education degree, a Middle School Education degree, and a coaching endorsement. I also met Sherri during this time and we have ben together ever since, including marriage in 1993 which is what led me to Loomis in the first place.
After leaving Loomis in 1994, I taught and coached in Franklin, NE for five years. I then moved on to Axtell, NE for eight years where I taught and coached. From Axtell, I moved to the Grand Island, NE for my first Principal job with Grand Island Northwest at the St. Libory and Chapman sites for thirteen years until they closed Chapman School down. In 2020, Sherri and I moved to Loomis and I drove to North Platte, NE for the past four years as the Principal of Jefferson Elementary School. I have been in education for thirty-one years, this year makes thirty-two. I look forward to several more years here at Loomis.
Sherri and I have four children, a daughter-in-law, a soon to be daughter in-law, and two grandchildren. Christian, our oldest son is married and has two children. They live in Bryan, TX where Christian is currently the Tight-Ends Coach for Texas A & M University. Preston, our second son, is a recruiter for the University of South Carolina and has recently gotten engaged to be married next June. Jasmine is our oldest girl, currently a senior at Loomis High School. Our youngest daughter is Ella, currently a Freshman at Loomis High School.
I am very excited to be part of the Loomis School system once again. They say life comes full circle and I guess this would be a prime example of that. I look forward meeting all of you, assisting in the education of your children, and hopefully retiring from Loomis, just not any time too soon.
